It is estimated that around 9 thousand young Jewish people is going to take part in the 18th March of the Living on 21st April this year. The participants, as in previous years, will follow the so-called Route of Death from KL Auschwitz 1 to KL Auschwitz 2-Birkenau in order to pay tribute to victims of the Holocaust. The ceremony is a part of an international educational project that will be conducted in both Poland and Israel. The goal of the programme is to pass knowledge of the tragic Holocaust on to the youth.
Responsible for organising the ceremony is the March of the Living organisation. The sightseeing of the Auschwitz-Birkenau museum will be obstructed on the day before, 20th April, due to the fact that special precautions will be taken and a number of people will be present while on the day of the March the museum will be closed entirely for visitors hence our tours to the place at both times 8 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. have been cancelled that day.
