Egyptian dream, my friends

After one really hard and exhaustive year of offering hostel services to the whole world and as a result having been awarded as a 5th best hostel in the world (Yay!) we finally got our so most desired holiday in… Sharm-el-Sheikh, the “charm” of  Egypt, the simplicity of sun, sand, sea and the mountains.
With a great support from Małopolska PKS we had a fantastic opportunity to explore that beautiful and exotic city situated on Sinai peninsula.

The first moment we reached the main airport in Sharm, we got shocked with all the airport staff who was chanting Koran songs while working, so contrary to uptight and official Polish staff.

Sharm el-Sheikh welcomed us with heat in the air and rash sun making our eyes sore. But it also overwhelmed us with very bright colours and loads of palm trees scattered around.

Having been warned against the disorganization skills of local service providers we were positively surprised with the smoothness of our transfer to the beautifully located Radisson hotel and the pick-up to our actual rooms who were a little bit under the standard which didn’t put us off. Once we dropped our bags we decided to have a look around and we discovered the striking beauty of small streams, cute bridges and little waterfalls on the hotel area. The hotel itself offered 329 rooms and suites decorated in tropical, arabic and maritime design styles, spa with three saunas and steam rooms, fully-equipped gym, whirlpool and massage facilities, three swimming pools, three floodlit tennis courts, beach volleyball, jogging tracks and a diving centre, many fancy restaurants like Olivos for all-day dining, Il Grotto Pizzeria and La Cascata for Italian cuisine and many more.

Most of our quality time, though, we spent in local shady bars, sipping ouzo (our favourite drink!!) by the crystal clear swimming pools and having sunbathing- things you are obliged to do in such places. Too much of sun and local vodka called Long John (incredibly awful but inclusive!) made us adapt even better in this exotic place and get into some extraordinary situations with local animators and entrepreneurs. Alladin, Ashraf, Ahmed and our befriended taxi driver Salem - thank you for a great fun we had with you!
Apart from getting browner from the sun, fatter from all-you-can-eat buffets, more used to Stella, Fineland and Long John (local booze) and what is the most important trying to beat local Egyptians with their “hagel” skills (impossible!), we also took advantage of some extra activities such as: snorkeling, quads-riding and having some leisure on the boat in one of the most beautiful national parks in Egypt.

All in all, the whole trip was amazing and we fully appreciated the kindness of locals and beauty of that exotic city!

The luxury of five-star hotels, water sports, shopping and entertainment. This is Sharm el-Sheikh, one of the most accessible and developed tourist resort communities on the Sinai peninsula. All around are Bedouins, colorful tents, mountains and sea. There are small, intimate hotels with modern designs, as well as larger hotel complexes belonging to International chains, plus about all the amenities one could expect of a tourist center, including casinos, discos and nightclubs, golf courses and health facilities. In fact, with diving and snorkeling, windsurfing and other water sports, horses and camel riding, desert safaris, and great nearby antiquities attractions, it is almost impossible for a visitor to ever suffer from boredom.
But on the other side Sharm el-Sheikh is also big contrasts where fancy hotels border with  scummy sandy areas, the beautiful greenery and rubbish scattered aimlessly on the roads and streets. Sharm is also the glitter of shops and restaurants which might be quite off-putting for a random European traveler but on the other side it is  the kaleidoscope of colours, patterns, flavours.

We absolutely loved it! Thank you!
